COPERNICUS GOES TO SUBURBIA Space, Sprawl, Society, and the Limits of Modern Thought |
![]() |
This
book in progress explores how perceptual-cognitive
biases in modern modes of thought have led to a variety of troubling
patterns in
Western and particularly American culture: suburban sprawl, urban
blight, various psychological
anomalies, oversized
government, and many more. We are an object-based culture, the
book argues, and we have designed against space-based modes of
engagement which
would shape our lives and culture in very different--and frequently
more whole--ways. "Copernicus
Goes to Suburbia"
is also a lecture presentation which has been presented to
academic,
professional, and public audiences.
